MTGMEA's Mission

Our mission is to foster quality music education for all students by providing a supportive community and professional development for music educators.

President: Christina Stuible

​Christina Stuible is currently in her fifth year at McFadden School of Excellence in Rutherford County Schools, having previously taught for two school years as a music teacher at Salem Elementary School with Murfreesboro City Schools and five years prior at Smyrna Elementary School. She has taught preK-sixth grade general music, choir, beginning band, and handchimes in her teaching career spanning the states of Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. Mrs. Stuible taught her own infant and toddler music classes for five years and currently teaches piano lessons. She has her Bachelors in Music Education with a vocal emphasis from Central Michigan University and Masters of Music in Music Education from Middle Tennessee State University. She has her Kodaly Level 1 certification from Belmont University and is currently pursuing certification in First Steps in Music and Conversational Solfege.

President-Elect: Tony Hartman
​

Tony Hartman is a musician, educator, and composer based in Middle Tennessee. 
As a musician, Tony travels throughout North America as a multi-instrumentalist performing on steel pan, piano, drums, and percussion. He has toured with Grammy-winners, award-winning wedding bands, and lead groups of his own. 
As an educator, Tony has been recognized as a CMA Music Educator of Excellence and is a two-time Teacher of the Year for Murfreesboro City Schools. He teaches K-6 general music, beginning band, jazz band, and is also director of Steel de Boro: a 4-6th grade steel pan program. He is an Adjunct Professor of Music Education at Middle Tennessee State University. He has presented sessions at the Tennessee Music Education Conference,  the Iowa Music Educators Conference, Tennessee Arts Academy, the Colorado Kodály Institute, Sierra Nevada Associate of Kodály Educators, and the Middle Tennessee Association of Kodály Educators.
As a composer, Tony has compositions published through Row-Loff Productions, the premier publisher of percussion literature. Tony has also composed music for stage plays: The Tragedy of Sarah Klein (2010) and The Guardian (2012).

Tony continues to compose for his students, creating catchy cross-curricular content to tie in social studies and science content for learners.

Past-President: Abbi Miller

​Abbi Miller is in her fifth year teaching at Bradley Academy - An Arts Integrated STEM school in the Murfreesboro City School District, having previously taught in Tullahoma City Schools. She has experience teaching preK through sixth grade general music and choir. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal/General Music Education from Middle Tennessee State University, a Master of Music Education degree from Anderson University, and an Education Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of West Florida. She also holds an Instrumental Music Education certification from MTSU. Abbi is a fully certified Orff-Schulwerk educator and has received training in World Music Pedagogy from Smithsonian Folkways, First Steps in Music, and Conversational Solfege. She is currently pursuing full Kodály certification from Indiana University - Bloomington.

Secretary: Amy Royer

​Amy is the music teacher at Hobgood Elementary, a STEM school in the Murfreesboro City Schools district. Amy is in her third year of teaching K-6 general music and choir. Prior to teaching music, Amy worked as an educational assistant and a 4th grade teacher for Rutherford County Schools. Outside of the public school setting, Amy works for a local nonprofit Arts organization, Carpe Artista, where she teaches/directs/choreographs for the Musical Theatre programming. Amy also spent over a decade as a working musician and entertainer, performing in theme park shows, cruise ship shows, and national tours. Amy holds a Bachelor of Music in Commercial Voice/Music Business from Belmont University and a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Middle Tennessee State University. Amy has received training in World Music Pedagogy and First Steps in Music.

Treasurer: Sara Cloud

​Sara is currently in her third year as the music specialist at Smyrna Elementary School, a STEM-designated elementary school in Rutherford County Schools.  For the majority of her 16-year career in Rutherford County, she has taught elementary music in schools in La Vergne and Smyrna, but also briefly taught middle and high school band at Central Magnet. This year she is planning to start an elementary choir at SES.  Sara holds her Bachelors of Music Education from Middle TN State University.  She also holds Orff-Schulwerk Level 1 and 2 certifications from Lee University and Belmont University.  She would someday love to add First Steps in Music and Conversational Solfege certifications.  ​
