Teach Songwriting with Words & Music®
Now entering its forty-sixth year, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s innovative Words & Music program has been helping over 170,000 students tell their stories. As teachers work through the lyric writing unit in their classrooms, students learn how to write original song lyrics while developing key skills in language arts, music, and social and emotional learning. Not only does Words & Music teach core curriculum, but it also connects young people to Nashville’s music community, pairing classrooms with professional songwriters who turn students’ work into finished songs that are performed in an interactive workshop. The Words & Music lesson guide provides academic rigor, imaginative teaching approaches, and interdisciplinary connections with the intent of inspiring new generations of students to express themselves through creative writing. Come hear an overview of this award-winning curriculum, learn how you can use it in your classroom, and begin crafting your own song using the methods taught in Words & Music.
