Come experience activities that lead students to explore, collaborate, and create in the K-6 Music Class. This workshop will detail how to prepare your students for creative successes through Movement, Dramatization, Improvisation, and Composition.

About Tony
Tony Hartman is a musician, educator, and composer based in Middle Tennessee. As a musician, Tony travels throughout North America as a multi-instrumentalist performing on steel pan, piano, drums, and percussion. He has toured with Grammy-winners, award-winning wedding bands, and lead groups of his own. As an educator, Tony has been recognized as a CMA Music Educator of Excellence and is a two-time Teacher of the Year for Murfreesboro City Schools. He teaches K-6 general music, beginning band, jazz band, and is also director of Steel de Boro: a 4-6th grade steel pan program. He is an Adjunct Professor of Music Education at Middle Tennessee State University. He has presented sessions at the Tennessee Music Education Conference, the Iowa Music Educators Conference, Tennessee Arts Academy, the Colorado Kodály Institute, Sierra Nevada Associate of Kodály Educators, and the Middle Tennessee Association of Kodály Educators. As a composer, Tony has compositions published through Row-Loff Productions, the premier publisher of percussion literature. Tony has also composed music for stage plays: The Tragedy of Sarah Klein (2010) and The Guardian (2012). Tony continues to compose for his students, creating catchy cross-curricular content to tie in social studies and science content for learners. |
